How to make Air Fryer Lamb of Rack

This is my step-by-step instruction for the Air Fryer Lamb of Rack.

    air fryer rack of lamb

    Marinate the lamb.

    air fryer lamb

    Air fry!

    Make the Herb Marinade:

    • In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, balsamic vinegar, dijon, honey, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

    Marinate the Lamb:

    • Place the rack of lamb in a large bowl or resealable plastic bag.
    • Pour the herb marinade over the lamb, ensuring it coats all sides evenly.
    • Let the lamb marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or preferably refrigerate it for 1-2 hours for better flavor. Overnight is best.

    Air Fry the Lamb:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    • Remove the lamb from the fridge and let it come to room temperature for about 15 minutes.
    • Place the marinated rack of lamb on the air fryer rack or in the air fryer basket, fatty side up.

    Cooking:

    • Air fry the rack of lamb at 375°F (190°C) for 18-22 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time according to your desired level of doneness.
    • Remember to check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer. Take it out at 125°F - it will keep cooking while resting.
    • For medium-rare, the internal temperature should reach 135°F (57°C), and for medium, it should be around 145°F (63°C).

    Rest and Serve:

    • Remove the cooked lamb. Cover it with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5 minutes.
    • Slice the rack of lamb into individual chops and serve hot with mint jelly on the side.
    • Garnish your juicy lamb chop with additional sprigs of fresh herbs if desired.
    • Serve and enjoy!

    Substitutions

    • Olive oil - substitute with avocado oil or grapeseed oil
    • Garlic - use garlic powder for a substitute
    • Rosemary and Thyme - substitute with parsley and oregano
    • Balsamic vinegar - Use red wine vinegar or white wine vinegar
    • Dijon mustard - use whole grain mustard
    • Honey - any sweetener will work like maple syrup or agave.
    • Mint jelly - this is optional but I highly recommend it!

    Equipment

    • Air fryer
    • Cutting board
    • Knife
    • Ziploc bag (large) or a large bowl
    • Aluminum foil for resting

How to store and reheat Air Fryer Lamb of Rack

    • To store the cooked air fryer rack of lamb, place it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
    • To reheat your leftover lamb chops, preheat the air fryer to 350°F, place the lamb, and warm for 10-15 minutes.

    Top tips for success

    • This recipe calls for simple ingredients, make sure you get great quality.
    • Marinate for a minimum of 1 hour for best results.
    • Use an instant meat thermometer.
    • Get mint jelly! Trust me on this. Lamb and mint are best friends.

Air Fryer Lamb of Rack - FAQs

What temperature should a rack of lamb be when cooked?

125 -130 degrees. I love using my Thermopro thermometer for accurate readings. For medium rare lamb, the internal temperature of the rack of lamb should reach 135°F (57°C), and for medium, it should be around 145°F (63°C).

Should I sear my rack of lamb before roasting?

No, because the air fryer is essentially a convection oven. the hot air circutes and gives it a nice overall crust. But, if you want a better crust, broil it for 5 minutes in the air fryer then reduce the temperature to 375 degrees f after. Reduce the cooking time as well from 18 minutes to 15 minutes

How long do you air fry lamb chops for?

The best way is to cook the lamb in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 18-22 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting for desired doneness. Flip halfway through cooking and monitor internal temperature for accuracy.
